Eyes Care



Eye Care is an important factor in all of our lives. We sometimes take sight for granted but can you imagine not being able to see everyday things normally. Imagine not being able to see your kids, too watch TV, too take a walk and see all of nature is beauties. People with certain eye diseases are not able to enjoy these experiences to their full extent and sometimes not at all. There are several reasons for people to start learning more about eye health and how to protect our sight. There are not only personal reasons but financial reasons as well because the cost of eye care affects everyone. As the Baby Boomer generation ages and faces more eye problems, the need for eye care will be much greater.
Eye care is essential to maintaining the health of our eyes. People with eye diseases that greatly affect their vision face many problems. They are physically hampered by impaired vision. They are not able to perform daily activities like driving or working. Some are barely able to see or have lost their vision entirely. They are also faced with emotional stress. People with dramatic eye problems face many issues that can lead to solitude and depression. This strain also affects friends and families.

Eye Care

Eyes are the most highly developed of all the sense organs. They need proper care and attention particularly as they are constantly exposed to dirt, dust, pollution, smoky atmosphere. Abusing your eyes by letting them become over-tired can result in headaches.

By following certain tips you can keep your eyes looking and feeling their best. These are:-
 

  • Get into the habit of starting the day by splashing your open eyes with cold water, so that they are thoroughly cleaned and stimulated.

 

  • Avoid using too much of eye drops, rather it is better to squeeze fresh cucumber juice into your eyes.

 

  • Don't  read in poor light; the light should come from behind or above rather than from the front.

  • Don't read for more than two hours at a stretch. Give a rest in between to your eyes for 10 min by putting the palms of your hands over them and shutting out the light.

 

  • Do not rub or stretch the skin under the eyes-it is very delicate and is easily damaged.

 

  • Keep the use of eye creams to minimum and be careful not to get them into your eyes. If you do, wash your eyes immediately with warm wate



  • Make sure that your diet contains good sources of Vitamin A, such as cereals, celery, oily fish, egg yolk and liver. If your eyes are itchy, watery or bloodshot you could be lacking in Vitamin B2 which can be found in brewer's yeast, liver and whole grain cereals.

 

  • Make sure to remove all traces of eye make up before going to best for it might cause infection in the roots of eyelashes.

 

  • Drink 6-8 glasses of water daily.

 

  • Your sleep pattern should be composed of at least 7 hrs.



Eye exercises

There are few exercises that can help to relax the eyes. You can try  these exercises to relieve tension and maintain healthy eyes. These exercises do not require much of effort and can be carried out any time of the day.

  1. "PALMING" OR "CUPPING" the eyes:- Put the base of your palm over closed eyes and press gently. Cover the eyes with "cupped" palms. Open the eyes and look in to darkness created by your palms. This will relax your tired eyes.

  2. Begin by opening and shutting your eyes tightly. Do this ten times, twice a day.

  3. Focus on a pencil or object held close (about 10 cm) to your face, the fix your eyes on a distant object, then look at the pencil again-do this five times.

  4. Roll your eyes in a complete circle from left to right twenty times a day, then do the same from right to left.
